Every wedding tells
its own story
These aren't styled shoots — they're real days, real people, and the moments that happened when nobody was watching. Here's a little of what I love about this job, in between the photos that made me love it.
No two are ever the same
Every wedding I shoot is completely different, because every group of people is different. I love the energy, the characters, the relationships, and the moments nobody sees coming — like a line-up of hurleys instead of the usual line-up of suits. That's what keeps this job exciting after all these years.
The moments in between
There are hundreds of little stories happening around a couple all day — a parent watching their son or daughter during the speeches, a grandparent laughing with the family, a friend getting emotional. I'm always looking beyond the obvious photograph, because those are usually the ones that become really special afterwards.
Emotion, first
You can have the perfect location and perfect light, but if there's nothing happening in the photograph, it can still feel empty. For me, a great wedding photograph is emotion first — it should bring you straight back to that moment, who was there, and how you felt.
Slowing it down, just the two of you
My favourite part of the day is probably the couple portraits, because it's the one chance I get to slow things down and spend a few quiet minutes with just the two of you — away from everyone else, having a laugh, making something beautiful.
Then it all goes a bit mad
But I also love the reception, because that's where everything becomes completely unpredictable. The speeches, the reactions, the laughter, the dancing, all the madness that comes with a wedding — that's where you get some of the most genuine photographs of the whole day.
You'll forget I'm even there
I bring a lot of energy to a wedding day, and I like having a bit of craic with people as much as I like a good photograph. If I'm relaxed and enjoying myself, you usually are too — and by the end of the day, most couples tell me they completely forgot I was even there.
